The Graduate Mentor Scheme (GMS) 2026 Inauguration Ceremony was successfully held on 21st March 2026 (Saturday). It marks the official commencement of another meaningful year of mentorship under this long‑standing flagship programme jointly organized by the H.K.U. Engineering Alumni Association (HKUEAA), the Faculty of Engineering, and the Engineering Society, HKU.

The ceremony brought together alumni mentors, distinguished guests, and enthusiastic mentees, reflecting this year’s theme, “Augmenting Bonds, Connecting Dreams, Empowering Engineering Excellence.” The occasion highlighted the strong commitment of the HKU Engineering community to nurturing the next generation of engineers by strengthening mentor‑mentee relationships, aligning professional aspirations, and advancing excellence within the engineering profession. We were honoured by the presence of esteemed guests, including Ir Michael H.S. FONG, JP, the President of HKUEAA, Ir Prof. S.C. WONG, BBS, JP,  Associate Dean (Development and External Relations) of the Faculty of Engineering, and Mr. Anthony T.H. WONG, Chairperson of the Engineering Society, HKU, whose support continues to be instrumental to the success of the Scheme.

This year’s Graduate Mentor Scheme successfully paired 34 mentors and 56 mentees, providing students with the invaluable opportunity to receive guidance from experienced professionals across a wide range of industries. These mentorship relationships are designed to offer not only career advice, but also insights into professional values, decision‑making, and personal development.

Following the ceremony, a tea‑gathering session was held, providing mentors and mentees with a relaxed setting to begin building meaningful connections. Participants were able to exchange ideas, expectations, and aspirations, laying a strong foundation for their upcoming mentorship journey.

Since its establishment in 2000, the Graduate Mentor Scheme has grown into one of the most anticipated annual initiatives for HKU engineering students and alumni. Through the extensive alumni network of HKUEAA, the Scheme continues to bring together dedicated mentors from diverse professional backgrounds, reinforcing the strong bonds across generations of HKU engineers.

The GMS remains a transformative platform for both personal and professional growth. As we embark on another promising year, we look forward to witnessing the development, achievements, and inspiring journeys of our mentees, guided by the wisdom and support of our alumni mentors.
