Technical Visit to MTR Tunnel Environmental Control System Installations

The H.K.U. Engineering Alumni Association (H.K.U.E.A.A.) is going to hold a technical visit to MTR Tunnel Environmental Control System Installations.


This technical visit will be on one of the important railway safety features - The Tunnel Environmental Control System (TECS) installations. The TECS installation will include vertical and horizontal TVF installations, trackway ventilation installations and electrical and control installation. An introduction of the TECS system adopted for Shatin Central link will be provided.


TECS is required for rail tunnels to maintain the environment condition of tunnel for train operation and to keep a smoke-free path for passengers’ evacuation when a fire occurs in tunnel. This technical visit will focus on TECS installation at Kai Tak MTR Station and the necessary considerations of good TECS installation.

The event is free of charge. Certificate of Attendance will be available.


Remarks:

• Applicants who are not yet HKUEAA members should join the membership (https://www.alumni.hku.hk/hkueaa/registration.html) prior to the technical visit registration so as to secure the places.

• Successful participants will receive a confirmation email and for those who do not show up without prior notice and valid reason, your application for participating upcoming 2 consecutive visits would be affected.
