Dear Alumni and Friends,
I am delighted to take up Presidency of the HKU Engineering Alumni Association (HKUEAA) 2025-26. As we navigate into an era of rapid technological advancement, the role of engineering alumni has never been more critical. The theme for 2025-26, “Augmenting Bonds, Connecting Dreams, Empowering Engineering Excellence”, encapsulates our threefold mission:-
Augmenting Bonds: A Foundation of Friendship
The strength of HKUEAA lies in our connections. Last year, our 50th Anniversary series, such as the Association’s first dual delegations to Beijing and the UK, Golden Jubilee Dinner, old photo collections, Music Jamming Night, InnoQUEST – guidance innovation projects to HKU students, mentorship schemes and alumni reunions, etc., brought together a thousand of alumni from all disciplines and graduation years.
This year, we aspire to reinvigorate bonds among friends as well as across fellow alumni bodies in the engineering profession. Apart from the flagship networking occasion at Annual Dinner, our popular portfolio from last year will return in a more vibrant way to include music, culture, technology and sports. We also target to expand outreach through social media channels and informal touchpoints, and to build a more cohesive alumni family.
Connecting Dreams: Bridging Aspirations in a Digital World
We are dedicated to enlarge the base of HKUEAA membership, particularly student and graduate members – the drivers and catalysts of this digital era, bestowed upon to realise dreams of the upper generation. We endeavour to create tangible exchange and inspirational opportunities during the planned visits to national technology firms leading artificial intelligence, smart city development, big data, robotics, etc., whose achievements are a dream come true.
Empowering Engineering Excellence: Leveraging Technology and Mutual Learning
The vision of empowering engineering excellence beyond individual achievement relies on elevating collective contributions to a wider world, both in alignment with Hong Kong’s societal needs and the United Nation Sustainable Development Goals. Our long-established mentorship scheme is an idea-exchange and mutual-learning platform treasured by the alumni body, from seasoned veterans, practising professionals to emerging talents. I believe that this repository of wisdom, and culture, will be passed on.
Join Us and Forge a Memorable Year
The year ahead is filled with promise. I warmly invite every alumnus to participate in our events, share ideas and contribute your expertise. Whether you are a recent graduate or a professional at one’s prime, your involvement is vital to the Association. Let us work collectively when we march into the next 50 years.
