We are excited to announce the resounding success of the HKUEAA Overseas Study Tour to South Korea, held from 31 May to 4 June, 2026. The tour focused on forward-looking strategies, sustainable initiatives, and industrial advancements that are shaping a greener and more innovative future. Participants shared highly positive feedback, especially the enriching experiences and valuable insights gained throughout the journey.
At Hyundai’s HTWO Energy Cheongju Waste-to-Hydrogen Plant, our delegates explored cutting edge waste-to-hydrogen technology, its role in clean energy for hydrogen-fuelled vehicles, and prospects for future development. Presentations, discussions and site visits broadened understanding of the technology’s practicality as a reliable energy source for applications in transportation and power generation.
The visit to the University of Seoul (UOS)’s Department of Architectural Engineering allowed delegates to learn about research in AIoT for construction safety and green building technologies. Exchange with UOS’ professors provided valuable opportunities to share academic research, campus life, and young graduate experiences. The campus tour offered further insight into how these innovations are applied in practice, reinforcing their importance in creating safer, smarter, and more sustainable urban environments.
At the Samsung Innovation Museum, delegates traced Samsung’s evolution from its early electronics ventures to global leadership in semiconductors, displays, and mobile technology. The themed exhibition halls highlighted how sustained research and development have driven innovation in electronics and transformed everyday life.
Another remarkable stop was Hyundai Motorstudio Goyang, which offered an immersive look into Hyundai’s automotive culture and future mobility vision. Through exhibitions on manufacturing process, vehicle displays, and interactive experiences, delegates gained deeper appreciation of engineering principles behind car production and emerging technologies such as hydrogen and smart mobility.
The visit to Incheon Bridge provided an in-depth overview of its operations, including monitoring systems and the role of sensors in ensuring safety and structural health of this long-span bridge. Delegates toured the bridge monitoring room and traffic control centre, gaining valuable insight of advanced infrastructure management and its contribution to the long-term reliability of this major transportation link between Incheon International Airport and Seoul city centre.
